How to spent EUR 179 in 10 minutes

Today I went to GC Monrepos golf course for visit of the golf club Demo day, held by Golfhouse, showing the latest clubs and innovations from Ping, Callaway, Cobra and all the other big brands.

Due to the fact that I felt a bit uncomfy with my Dunlop DDH putter I decided to use the opportunity for a 10% “Demo day discount” and to buy a new putter.

10,980

10,980 – that’s the number of hits my video “Shopping in Bangkok - part 1”, which can origianlly found in my Thailand travel blog and one of my travelpod’s, got right now at YouTube.

Fun Facts about this video:

  • 67% of the viewers were male – even if the video is showing a shopping street ;-)
  • The age group mostly watched this video is between 45 and 54

So, let’s have another look at this video right now – maybe you can tell me what is so fascinating about it…

In some way I’m proud that some people are really watching (and after all also reading) my videos & blogs :-D

Doggy Doesn’t Want To Play Golf

Just found following video…

Burrito, the Golfing Dog!

First… who on earth would give a dog the name of a mexican food?
Reason 1 for smack this woman with my iron 7.

Second… WHAT THE HELL is she thinking?!? It’s an ANIMAL – neither a toy nor a doll!
This is AGAINST NATURE! Isn’t it enough that man himself is standing on a golf course, acting like an idiot?!?
Reason 2 for smack this woman with my iron 6, 7 and 8. And another good reason to buy a Big Bertha driver ;-)

Where’s PETA when you need ‘em?

18 fuckin’ times

Actually, there are hundreds of stories, rumours and theories Who , How and Why golf was invented.

Wikipedia says:

The origin of golf is unclear and open to debate. Some historians trace the sport back to the Roman game of paganica, in which participants used a bent stick to hit a stuffed leather ball. One theory asserts that paganica spread throughout Britain and Europe as the Romans conquered most of the continent, during the first century B.C., and eventually evolved into the modern game. Others cite chuiwan ("chui" means striking and "wan" means small ball) as the progenitor, a Chinese game played between the eighth and 14th centuries. The game is thought to have been introduced into Europe during the Middle Ages. Another early game that resembled modern golf was known as cambuca in England and chambot in France. This game was, in turn, exported to the Low Countries, Germany, and England (where it was called pall-mall, pronounced “pell mell”). Some observers, however, believe that golf descended from the Persian game, chaugán. In addition, kolven (a game involving a ball and curved bats) was played annually in Loenen, Netherlands, beginning in 1297, to commemorate the capture of the assassin of Floris V, a year earlier.

According to the most widely accepted account, however, the modern game originated in Scotland around the 12th century, with shepherds knocking stones into rabbit holes on the current site of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.

But that’s… well.. booooooooooooooooooring!

Closing Time... Last Call...

Guinness vs. Strongbow
That's it... Final curtain... Closing Time... The Last Call...

Today closed my beloved pub, the George & Dragon down in Stuttgart...
What a great time we had there... what people we have met... my wonderful sister-in-mind Maiken... Joe Cocker... the Riverdance gang...
Can't remember how often I went directly from work down in "my living-room"... only to leave the pub in the early mornings...
Still remember the darts league where I met great people like Ulf, Oli, Günther, Peter... or Friedemann, the ol' bastard ;-)

What was it fun when I broke up with my Ex and we "fought" bout the right to go & visit the pub... fighting for "the bar" like other people for the kids... the Strongbow, Lynchburg Lemonade and the Guinness we had there... not to mention the hang-overs on the next day...
Even if I haven't been there so often the last few months - it was always good to know that the pub was "there"...

This one's for you, Kev - Thanks for The Great Time!

Closing time
Open all the doors and let you out into the world
Closing time
Turn all of the lights on over every boy and every girl
Closing time
One last call for alcohol so finish your whiskey or beer
Closing time
You don't have to go home but you can't stay here

I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home

Closing time
Time for you to go out to the places you will be from
Closing time
This room won't be open till your brothers or your sisters come
So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits
I hope you have found a friend
Closing time
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end

I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
I know who I want to take me home
Take me home

Boom de Ya da

What's with this wonderful song going on?!?

Okay, I'm talking here about the "Discovery Channel" song Boom De Ya Da which I saw the first time back November 08 in Asia.

That was THIS video:

That video brought me to the "total search result page" where I found really great versions of this song.

For example this is a quite nice version:

But now... I'm REALLY confused... coz I have seen THIS commercial on German TV a few secs ago...

That's the tv commercial for a German energy company.

According to this website the singer is Houaida Goulli and the song is called "I love the mountains" (well... I like "Boom De Yada" better *keke*).

So, either the agency (the guys who made this really cute commercial for RWE) are watching Discovery Channel on a regular base (sorry, no clue if the D.C. commercial was screened the same way in Germany than down in Singapore, Thailand and the other Asian countries) or... Houaida Goulli wrote a really great piece of music and her agent is a damn good one... :-)

Anyway, for me it will be always the Discover Channel song.
