Getting a better HCP – my 4th attempt

Tomorrow it is time again for my 4th attempt at the weekly After Work 9-hole tournament to improve my golf handicap…

Actually, so far my "golf career” hasn’t improved much – played so far only 3 tournaments with mediocre results.

Tournament 1 was only 2 weeks after my final “golf license test” where I placed under the top 70…
Tournament 2 wasn’t much better – under the top 80 player’s you really can’t improve much.
Tournament 3 on the other was a better success – here I was able to improve my handicap from 54 down to 51.

So, let’s give it another shot this Monday on tournament #4, playing 9-holes (instead of the “real” 18) at the Monrepos After Work tournament.

This tournament is played under the “Stableford” rules – and due to the fact that only 9 of 18 holes are played every player already got 18 points “in the bank”. But that doesn’t mean that such 9-hole tournaments are easier than their “big brother” because as better you get as harder it gets. As soon as you have 2 or more holes without at least 1 stableford point you can quit the tournament because there’s really no chance to get back into the game…

To get a better handicap tomorrow all I have to do is to have max. strokes of 56 – doesn’t sound that hard, right?
But if you know that my last few scores were always +62 it’s really a challenge…
